Leaders Are Made

 

“Leaders are born, not made.” It’s ridiculous to discover that some people actually believe in such a quote. I have read and heard that quote over and over again with the same conclusion. It’s my disagreement. I know that leaders are made. All right, who is a leader? We need to know who and what a leader is. Yes, it doesn’t apply to human beings alone. 

According to some Google definitions, the first one says a leader is “the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country.” The next one says the leader can be “the person or team that is winning a sporting competition at a particular time.” As it regards the last one, it says “an organization or company that is the most advanced or successful in a particular area” should be considered to be the leader.

Let’s simplify it. From the above-mentioned Google definitions, it can be noted that becoming a true leader requires some leadership enhancements which are the right knowledge, understanding, wisdom, skills, connection {network} and experience. Knowledge comes from every information at all times. Beyond getting the knowledge, it has to be understood in order not to abuse its true purpose at any given time. After understanding, wisdom, which is the right application of knowledge, comes next. It opens a well guided practice leading to the development and perfection of necessary skills. All these things can only be possible if you have the right connection or network in the form of people helping your vision to succeed in various capacities. As an organization or a company, too, besides your members of staff, B2C {Business-to-consumer marketing} and B2B {Business-to-business service} come in handy here. B2C is helpful in relating with all the consumers of your goods and services. B2B makes interactions with other organizations or companies to be profitable. The experience gotten from the leadership enhancements that have been stated will always be priceless. Your level of improvement is what your actions will keep showing.

Now, in a bid to create a balance, let’s say hypothetically that “leaders are born.” With such a quote, we are making it known to the whole world that potentials are key to being a leader in every walk of life. However, even potentials have to be developed by all the leadership enhancements before they can be fulfilled.

At this juncture, it’s also obvious that no leading person, company, organization or country has all these leadership enhancements, by default, from the beginning of their journey. You develop them with time before you can fulfill your laudable potentials. Leaders are made.
